Kayak around King’s Bay, Crystal River, and or Salt River.  Get a chance to see Dolphins, Manatees, the Sunset, and the Moonrise.  Interpretive tour completes with snacks and cold drinks in the summer months, or Smores and Hot Cocoa around a fire with Sing-Along or Ghost Stories during the cooler months.   Portions of the proceeds go to the Marine Science Station to rebuild their museum.

The evenings are beautiful in Crystal River.  The sunsets over King’s Bay and the Gulf of Mexico are picture perfect.  Come experience this in a canoe or kayak.

Our Oceanographer and interpretive guide from the Marine Science Station takes you on an unforgettable experience. Learn how the natives of the area fished, hunted and lived during the period before condomiums, seawalls, and golf courses. Learn how nature has changed in our area over the millennia. How does salt water intrusion occur in our drinking water? What can we do to stop it? We begin our tour with a classroom setting and learn of these things, discuss issues relavent to our area, then go out and see the beauty that makes up our land and sea. Each month is different as it presents a new topic, new discussion, and new interest.

Paddle out as the sun is setting. You’ll have a chance to possibly see dolphins hunting and feeding for their dinner, and manatees as they frolic below your kayak. We continue our paddle, viewing nature as it settles in for the night.  As nighttime increases and the sun sets, we can watch the moon as it comes up in the horizon.

We'll complete our tour at on the beach of the Maring Science Staion where we will have snacks and cold drinks in the summer months, or Smores and Hot Cocoa around a fire with Sing-Along or Ghost Stories during the cooler months. Sing Old-Tyme favorites with our guitarist in accompaniment.

Certain months we'll present with dinner as the Station has a full complement cafeteria, and outside BBQ.

When shuttling occurs, there's no need to worry about your car, boat, or time, as we take care of everything.  At the close of the evening you’ll have your vehicle there at the take out spot because we shuttle you at the beginning of the kayak tour.

The sky is full of lights besides the moon.  During the evening phase of the Kayak Moonlight paddle tour, see Saturn as it appears in as a yellowish “star” just below the “Snow Moon.”  Prycyon will shine off to its right. In May come we experienced a “Blue Moon” as it only happens about every 3 years. The “Thunder Moon” was in July and boy did it ever! In October will be our Haunted Halloween Kayak Tour, a tour to die for!!!

The fee for all this is only $40.  Kayak rentals and canoe rentals available for $10 per person.

There are only a limited number of spots available, so make your reservations early.
